Deadbrush

Connected

Limbs loosely linked in a pile

Grasping out toward one another –

Easily separated, strewn, and discarded, yet

Somehow supporting the weight of a world

That cares not a whit and moves on without sympathy

For the burden it had set down carelessly

On this mass full of sacrifice and crooked knots

Banded together out of circumstance and happenstance

Reaching out toward each other with

Limbs loosely linked in a pile

Connected.
