Gemstone

Glossy sheen of smooth to cover over the minor

And major divots, pits and crevices

That etch their way deeply over the years

As each experience creates us in its image

While we resist every step of every way.

Why do we hide these flaws and cracks

Under the banality of sameness?

Exult and dance and celebrate each

Unique weakness and overwhelming pressure

That has burnished you to near-perfection.
