Sonata

Is it wrong for me to hold you so close to my heart, my dearest friend?

No, it cannot, for that is where you belong,

Near the place where kindness, compassion and love all dwell

As they do so brilliantly in your heart.

You are the music on the wind that changes the seasons.

Your laughter sings its aria,

Enrapturing all who hearken its call to joy.

Your words tumble and interweave

In a symphonic tapestry that covers me

With contentment and encouragement.

Your whole being shines like the warmth of a fire

Built in the hearth of home.

I treasure the cool softness of your cheek against mine,

And the smell of your hair as we dance slowly

Your embrace and the small of your back are the inspiration of dreams.

I discover more of myself in everything you do.

All my senses awaken when you arrive.

You journey through me like a road winding along a river bluff.

No exploration of you can ever be complete

As I feel your influence on me multiplying daily.
